1. FC Saarbrücken TT will surely miss Bojan Tokic next season. In the closing encounter of matchday 16 in the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL), the Slovenian once again proved his importance for the Saarlanders. With two points Tokic led Saarbrücken to a narrow 3-2 away win against Post SV Mühlhausen on Sunday afternoon. The team of coach Slobodan Grujic, who stayed in Saarbrücken due to illness just as Tiago Apolonia did, is now two points away from their competitors Ochsenhausen and four points from Bremen before the two last remaining matchdays of the main round.

Beside Apolonia Saarbrücken had to do without Patrick Franziska, too, as the German national hurt his ellbow during the Team World Cup in London. And so it was Tomas Polansky who made an appearance at Kristanplatz. Against his Czech compatriot Lubomir Jancarik, the 19-year-old suddenly had the chance to already seal the deal for Saarbrücken, since his teammates stormed into a qiuck 2-0 lead before him. "We had a superb start," said Patrick Baum, who beat Ovidiu Ionescu in straight games. "But Mühlhausen fought and played well after that."

Jancarik was the one who startet the comeback, beating Polansky 3-1, after turning around game one. "Luckily, Lubo brought us back into the match, after we were down 0-2 so quickly," said Daniel Habesohn, who scored the equalizer soon after. But Mühlhausen could not reward themeselves for their morale, as Tokic proved superior in the final battle against Ionescu. "It was tough luck for Ovi for he was close all the time and lost two games after 9-9. We were so close after our comeback, which makes it hard to lose the match eventually," said Habesohn. "But Tokic always plays well here, that's a fact unfortunately."

Matchday 17 will not be opened until March 16 by TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt and TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell. The remaining four matches will be played the Sunday after.
